Programs and Events

In honor of the Library’s 100th anniversary, we are offering the following programs and events. Please join us!

  • - July 16th - Centennial Celebration at the Library
  • Thursday, July 16th at 6:00 pm
  • Please join us for a picnic with music and more to commemorate the 1909 dedication of the Middle Haddam Library. Bring your own picnic dinner, beverages and seating. There will be “sparklers”, entertainment and ice cream for sale by a local vendor.

  • April - TIME TRAVEL: Possibility and Promise
  • Sunday, April 19 at 3:30pm - Professor Ronald Mallett will give a talk on his book, Time Traveler: A Scientist’s Personal Mission to Make Time Travel a Reality”, a compelling and human story of a man whose deep childhood trauma drove him on a quest to build a time machine. The book is currently being made into a feature film by Spike Lee.

    There will be a reception to follow at the library

  • May – Diane Rubacha – Artist reception and print sale
  • Sunday, May 3 at 2:00 pm

    Meet local artist, Diane Rubacha, and have an opportunity to purchase a limited edition print of the library in honor of our Centennial Celebration.

  • May – Nancy D’Oench – book talk
  • Sunday, May 17 at 2:00 pm,

    Nancy D’Oench is a writer, award-winning flower arranger, lecturer, flower-show judge, and longtime member of the Garden Club of America. She lives in Portland, Connecticut and has recently published (along with Bonny Martin and Mick Hales) a book called, “Gardens Private & Personal: A Garden Club of America Book”. Nancy will discuss the book and sign copies. There will be a reception to follow.June – Time Capsule and End of School Celebration
